About
Welcome to Unagi Edoichi, a hidden gem located in the bustling heart of Tokyo's Toshima City. Known for its exquisite eel dishes, this charming establishment has quickly become a favorite among both locals and visitors. Nestled at 4 Chome 711, Minamiikebukuro, Unagi Edoichi offers a unique culinary experience that captures the essence of traditional Japanese cuisine.
The focal point of the menu is undoubtedly the unagi, or eel, prepared using time-honored techniques that enhance its natural flavors. Reviewers consistently rave about the unajyu, where the eel is generously served over perfectly cooked rice. Customer Y S lauds the extra-large portion of unagi, making it a dish truly fit for an appetite. On the other hand, the adventurous can indulge in the unique kimo yaki—grilled eel liver—an offering that showcases the restaurant's dedication to showcasing the entire eel experience.
As noted by Louis Lau, the ambiance here complements its culinary offerings; the friendly service paired with reasonable prices makes Unagi Edoichi a must-visit. Although the location may present a challenge, it's just a short walk from Zoshigaya Station via the charming Sakura Tram. This slight detour is well worth it for a fantastic traditional unagi dinner that few places in Tokyo can replicate.
One cannot overlook the masterful preparation of the eel, which has earned high praises for its delicate texture and rich flavor. For those who are fond of slightly gamey flavors, as noted by Ayaaki Osawa, the liver dishes here are not to be missed. Each bite speaks of culinary expertise and deep respect for ingredients, making every dish an unforgettable experience.
If you're in search of authentic Japanese dining that emphasizes quality and tradition, look no further than Unagi Edoichi. Reservations are highly recommended due to its growing popularity, so be sure to book ahead to secure your spot in this culinary haven!
“ Super! ”
“ Fantastic place serving delicious EEL rice in the neighborhood. Friendly services, reasonable price and their rice is simply one of the best I have had. You may only try your luck if no booking in advance. ”
“ Fantastic Traditional Unagi Dinner ”
“ Very delicious UNAGI (eel) restaurant in Tokyo area. I tried KIMO YAKI (well liver) and extra Large size of UNAJYU (eel volume is extra large, rice volume is same as other sizes). The location may not be easy to find but you can walk from ZOSHIGAYA station by SAKURA TRAM. ”
“ It may be a liver based seasoning but I don't read Japanese. Very much a liver loving place though. It's on the soup and you can get skewers of just eel liver. Delicious even for a gaijin I'd rate. If you can enjoy liver or slightly gamey flavors you'll love it. The cooking is top tier for the eel. ”
“ Unagi kimo (eel liver) is amazingly good! Sweet sauce that is also slightly bitter because it has been grilled mixed with a rich liver taste. If you make a reservation, let them know you plan on ordering the kimo. The unagi is soft and tasty and worth going to this slightly out of the way place. ”
“ good and cozy place and kind staffs. reservation is recommended ”
